At the height of the dog days of summer, when boxes of Mayoral Fall Clothing for girls and boys begin arriving at my stores on an almost daily basis, it always seems a little incongruous to be buying for NEXT Spring and Summer. But, the Spring/Summer 2018 buying season is indeed well under way, so, THAT is basically how I spent my weekend. Amidst throngs of department store buyers and boutique owners, I trekked to see what luscious new goodies awaited in terms of pretty spring dresses and Easter vests and bow ties for boys.
What screams summer more than the Beaufort Bonnet Company's plantation pink bonnet?
So cute, I couldn't help but pick up some in a white, pink and seersucker too! The lining of one even was designed to match a pretty floral sunsuit I had purchased as well, so of course I HAD to add the matching hat!
Kissy Kissy, with it's customary, soft as pillowy-cotton, boy's outfits and baby layette, was, as always, hard to resist.
As communion season is right around the corner, I also felt compelled to pick up some very pretty communion dresses from Isabel Garreton and Susanne Lively. Customers are already asking for their communion appointments so, best to be prepared!
If I noticed a trend, it was the designers' efforts to address what I term "pajama wear". That is, a tendency for kids today (and sometimes their parents! ) :-) to go out and about in soft, cozy pajama-style attire?! To that end, some pretty formal childrenswear designers like Anavini, have introduced smocked dresses and boy's rompers in soft, jersey cotton fabrics. A super comfortable feel with an elegant look!
Kudos to Anavini for addressing the need for comfort, but in such an stylish way!
Buying is done...now the editing begins! It takes forever, but I really try to select the best of the best...so that ADRIAN EAST customer's can rest assured the legwork has been done for them!
